There are various components in bamboo crafts.
I take the components and weave them according to the characteristics of each piece I am making and the part to be used.
In this case,I photographed Japanese spindletree.
Japanese spindletree is a wide bamboo divided into sections.
By dividing the bamboo, the thickness is greater than the width, allowing the bamboo to be bent with the outer skin of the bamboo facing upward.
Japanese spindletree is often used to fill the gap between the edge and the woven fabric, which not only looks beautiful, but also increases the strength of the basket by adhering it closely to each member, resulting in a solid basket.
This Japanese spindletree is made by dividing a 20 mm wide and 3 mm thick bamboo stick into 32 pieces, with a width of approximately 0.6 to 0.7 mm after division.
By processing without going against the fibers, the hard bamboo is transformed into a flexible member.
